The End of All Controversy: Why We Stand on the Word of God

The End of All Controversy: Why We Stand on the Word of God. In a world full of opinions, trends, and shifting beliefs, many people are searching for something solid to stand on. At Christian Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church, we believe God has already given us that foundation. It is His Word, the Holy Bible.
God Spoke, and the World Was Formed
The Bible opens with a powerful truth: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Throughout the first chapter of Genesis, we see God speaking and creation responding. Light, land, seas, living creatures, and mankind itself were all brought forth by the power of His Word.
If God's Word was powerful enough to create the world, it is powerful enough to guide our lives. The same God who spoke creation into being has also given us a written record of His will for all mankind.
The Bible Is Inspired by God
The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that "all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (II Timothy 3:16). The next verse tells us why: "that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (II Timothy 3:17).
The Bible is not simply a collection of good advice or historical stories. It is the actual written account of God's Word to mankind. Everything a believer needs for teaching, correction, and spiritual growth is found within its pages.
Let God Be True -The End of All Controversy: Why We Stand on the Word of God
When questions arise about faith, salvation, or how we should live, where do we turn for answers? Romans 3:4 gives us clear direction: "Let God be true, but every man a liar."
People may disagree. Traditions may change. Popular opinion may shift from one generation to the next. But God's Word does not change. That is why we believe the Holy Bible is the end of all controversy. When Scripture has spoken, the matter is settled.
God Speaks Through His Son
Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us that God spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son. Jesus Christ was sent to be the Savior of the world (John 3:16-17), and He delivered God's message directly to His disciples.
Before returning to the Father, Jesus prayed that His followers would be one, just as He and the Father are one (John 17:21). He then commissioned His apostles to teach all nations to observe everything He had commanded them (Matthew 28:18-20).
The Apostle's Doctrine Unites the Body of Christ
This is why the New Testament holds such an important place in our church. It contains the Apostle's Doctrine, the teaching Jesus gave to His apostles so that the body of Christ would be unified in one faith.
On the Day of Pentecost, those who received the Word were baptized and "continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers" (Acts 2:42). The early church did not create its own rules or follow the traditions of men. It followed the teaching of the apostles.
The Church is "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone" (Ephesians 2:20). When we build on that same foundation, we stand where the early church stood.
What This Means for Our Church
Christian Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church holds the New Testament Scriptures as our final rule and authority in all operations of this church. That means our teaching, our worship, and our ministry are guided by what the Word of God says.
Our goal is found in Ephesians 4:11-16: to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, and to help every believer grow into the unity of the faith and the full knowledge of the Son of God.
